I’ve been busy putting the house back together after our work this past week.  The wood floors are complete and we added better brackets and shelves for the basement storage room.  Seriously, I never realized how hard it would be to hang shelves – but the guy at the hardware store sold us the wrong type of nails, even after being told what it was used for.  We finally figured things out and the last few tracks for the shelves were an easier install.  Oh, the joys of taking care of your home!

The floors in the master bedroom look more lovely than all the others.  I’m assuming it is because it is larger than most of the other rooms and has less furniture so you can actually see the floors.  Right now as I’m typing this, I’m sitting on a love-seat overlooking the view of our backyard and the…

Beautiful

So I mentioned that this weekend we took some time to walk in the gardens.  It was a quick visit by our standards – the kids and I often stay most of the afternoon.  We usually eat lunch there and even in the winter, you could have spotted us there drinking hot tea and eating cake in the Japanese Gardens.  It is truly a lovely thing to have a garden near you and even though it is a bit of a drive for us, it is worth every minute it takes to get there.

I usually don’t go and try to take photos in the evening because I know they won’t turn out that well.  Many of them did not, but I think that the few that did turn out – it was well worth it.  I love that our gardens are actually open until 8 pm, which gives us…

I mean, I could have just left the camera home, and I did try but one of the kiddos brought it so they could take pictures.  The problem is, I would be kicking myself if a photographic moment presented itself and I could not capture it.  So, while many of my photos turned out too dark and grainy – a few turn out just perfectly (to my delight).  There is definitely something to be said…

wonderful photos!

It has been a while since we have visited the gardens.  Some days, it just gets too hot and if the images don’t have too much glare, they are blurry because I was rushing to get out of the blazing sun.  See, in Colorado (at least where I live) we don’t have huge trees everywhere, creating glorious shade.  Instead, we have all open sky.  It reaches from one end of the horizon to the other.  Sometimes, it may remain to be see through a flurry of houses here or there but we definitely are open to the elements.

Even when going hiking – a full sky rises overhead.  If you are lucky, some trails have tree cover, but many do not.  So I am a bit of a wimp and I decide to go hiking when it is cooler (yay for fall time!) or when the weather is a bit…
