Beauty in the Architectural Armour
Cuffs and jewelry full stop are not just beautiful items that look
stunning on skin but they serve a purpose above and beyond.
Jewelry is essentially armour which is used for protective purposes,
just as silver and gold is also harnessed for. Artist jeweller, Ute
Decker, a champion for sustainable and ethical jewelry, has created a
collection of jewelry which is bold, stunning and has an armour-like energy.
Ute Decker, one of the world’s first fair trade gold licence-holders,
creates sculptural and architectural jewelry in sustainable materials
including recycled sterling silver, recycled gold, and patinated copper,
among others.
Her standout pieces are the cuffs, known as “arm sculpture”, which are
architectural arm armour as it were. The cuffs which include
origami-inspired shapes, traditional spirals and sculptural shapes are
gorgeous pieces of arm candy.
The London-based German designer, known for her bold, unique and limited
edition handcrafted creations, selects only the finest sustainable
materials – “either 100% recycled silver or fair trade gold sourced from
the small sotrami artisanal mining cooperative in the highlands of Peru”.
