The Magicians

Magic is the hot topic on the small screen yet again in early 2016, when the SyFy channel premieres its TV adaptation of Lev Grossman’s best-selling book, “The Magicians”.
The TV series centers on Quentin Coldwater, a high school senior, who enrolls in Brakebills College for Magical Pedagogy, a secret upstate New York University specializing in magic.
The teen’s life turns around when he enters the school of magic, which is far removed from the world featured in a series of fantasy novels he’s secretly obsessed with. The novels he read as a young boy centered around the magical land of Fillory where five children descend upon a magical journey.
But Quentin Coldwater’s own magical journey as a young adult is about to take on a different turn to that he was introduced to as a “bookworm”.
He and his 20-something friends, in this SyFy series, soon discover that the magical fantasy world they read about as children is all too real, and moreover poses grave danger to humanity.
“The Magicians” delves into a world which is all too familiar in this modern age, where serving the greater good for humanity, the universe and the balance is a battle not just reserved for “superheroes” but for those folk with magic and power too.
The Magicians premieres on the SyFy channel in January 2016
