Happy Valentine’s Day!

With the Victorians, terms of endearment flowed freely.  A dear friend was a chuckaboo — and that’s what all of you are to me.  Valentine’s Day can be traced to ancient Rome, but it was the Victorians who originally put a romantic spin on the holiday.

Some people love flowers on Valentine’s, others opt for chocolate… but as far as this author is concerned, the very best Valentine of all is a great review.  Pat over at eQuipsposted a lovely review for Dead of Winter: Journey 2, Penllyn.  Click here and read Pat’s review.

Now to the regular weekend feature, my chuckaboos!  I’m here with an all new episode of the #steampunk riverboat serial, The Delta Pearl.  This time the “random reader thing” is from Priscilla Bettis.  She gave us something suitably delicious…

Welcome back, my chuckaboos!  The moment of the winter solstice draws near.  Yes winter is coming!  It’s down to the wire for getting “Journey 1” of Dead of Winter ready for publication.  If anyone is interested in helping, I’d greatly appreciate any reblog of the launch post, or any other way you want to help me share.  Sorry, no exact date yet for when it will be released.

That said, this is a very short episode of The Delta Pearl.  If you missed the riverboat last weekend, here’s the link to the previous chapter.

Random Reader Things

Onomatopoeic is this chapter’s random reader thing.  It’s from Pat at e-Quips.

Welcome back to the steampunk riverboat, my chuckaboos!  I hope all of you are staying safe and well. I invite you into my sanctuary, a place free of politics, religion, self-righteousness, and all the things that bring judgement with them.

Many of you know that I deal with the effects of PTSD (anxiety, agoraphobia, and whatever else pops in) day-to-day, minute-to-minute.  Yesterday I read something that “triggered” me in a huge way.  The ending was a huge sucker-punch, at least for me.  That’s on me, not the writer of the piece.  I take accountability for my personal shortcomings. Regardless, I was so undermined by it that I’m prompted to make a promise to you.  My stories are like this sanctuary — a safe place for the imagination. My idea of “happily ever after” is not normal, but I will never kill…

Thanks for coming back to the steampunk riverboat, my chuckaboos!  I took a little break, but I’m here today with an episode that is… eventful to say the least.

Random Reader Things

Dan Antion at No Facilities provided the “random reader thing” used in this chapter — stopwatch.  This is a fast-paced segment, so that’s doubly suitable.

Previously on The Delta Pearl

Today’s episode builds on many past chapters. An important one was Chapter 6 — Listen.

Last Time

“Blue John was ranting like a lunatic.  I didn’t understand half of what he said.  The only part I heard clearly was ‘It’s coming.’  And as nonsensical as it sounds, I could have sworn he said ‘the other pearl.’  For a moment I thought he meant the Delta Pearl, but that’s insane,” Victor commented.  “Then…
