Crystal happy birthday 14Happy 14th Birthday to Crystal

First things first.  Happy 14th Birthday to Crystal! My little feline superhero in the Batgirl mask.  She likes to play with the combination of her arched scrubbing brush and teaser-string.  On the steampunk background, the brush looks like a sea monster, and super Crystal showing it who is boss.

She came from a colony of feral cats in a dangerous part of town, south of Albuquerque.  A rescue group had their eyes open though.  They knew her mom was about to give birth, and they intervened.  The tiniest kitten I’d ever seen, she popped her head up and looked at me during an adoption event.  That was fourteen years ago.  She’s my little feline superhero in her Batgirl mask.

I really felt the need to take a break from this serial, and focus on the novel I started way back in…

Welcome back to my sanctuary, my chuckaboos.  Here are some notes for those of you who were not aboard at the beginning of this riverboat journey.  Chuckaboo is a Victorian Era slang word for “dear friend.”  Everyone who reads and leaves a friendly comment is my chuckaboo.

The setting is a magical riverboat, the Delta Pearl.  It’s a steampunk fantasy, so there are elements of magic, along with real (and potentially real – that’d be the fantasy part again) technology that is suitable to the Steam Era.

The most important crewmembers of the Delta Pearl have gemstone names.  They are also known by their positions as if their titles were proper names.  The Captain, the Dealer, and the Cook are parental figures for the young protagonist.

The heroine is Émeraude, who recently had her sixteenth…

Hello, my chuckaboos. I’m glad you could come back to my sanctuary.  Yes, this blog is my sanctuary.  I am the gatekeeper of this place.  It’s a safe haven not just for you, but for me too.  It’s safe from vitriol, religion, politics, and negativity.  Remember that.

Random Reader Things.  It gives me great pleasure when someone thinks about my stories after they’ve left my blog.  Last week, GP Cox did that and made a comment at his own blog, mentioning a Clockwork Horse.  I was captivated by the thought, and it changed what I had in mind.  That became my random thing for this short episode.

When we stopped last time, with Agate and Victor fussing over Émeraude, after her ordeal.  You know what a matchmaker the Cook is, especially where Émeraude and Victor are concerned.  We’d best…

Welcome, my chuckaboos. I know everyone is sick of me talking about my pathetic excuse for Internet from TDS Telecom. So, I’m only bringing it up to apologize for my absence from other blogs.  It’s hard to stay online long enough to read or even comment.    Despite the lack of service, I’m back with another all new episode of my steampunk serial, The Delta Pearl. I’ll drop the subject now.  I just hope you understand that I can’t visit if I can’t get online properly.

Random Reader Things.  I’ve brought back the papyrus, from episode 39Olga Núñez Miret gave us that.  Great minds think alike and GP Cox, and Deborah Zajac both left a Gramophone.  This episode brings back the Agate, the Cook.  Since she’s Scottish, it was the perfect time…
