Thanks for sharing, it is good that these animals get a chance at forever homes because of so many volunteers.

When I hear that there is another airlift coming in thanks to Wings of Rescue, I always jump at the chance to document it. I feel like it’s such a special thing to be even a small part of these missions, especially when I think about the magnitude of what is being done, and how many people are involved, and how many pets are being helped.

Dogs and cats were flown from the Los Angeles area (they fly out of Van Nuys airport), where there are high euthanasia rates and severe overcrowding issues in shelters. In the words of Wings of Rescue, they are ‘pleased to announce that because of [your] generous support, we are flying 787 cats and dogs who otherwise would not have seen Thanksgiving to no kill shelters throughout the United States and Canada this weekend. Romania has banned all trophy hunting of brown bears, wolves, lynx and wild cats in a surprise decision that gives Europe’s largest population of large carnivores a reprieve from its most severe and immediate threat.

The move on Tuesday reverses a trend which has seen the number of large carnivores being shot by hunters grow year on year since Romania’s accession into the European Union in 2007. In 2016, the largest hunting quotas yet gave hunters the mandate to shoot 550 bears, 600 wolves and 500 big cats over 12 months.

Animals look up to humanity for love and inspiration. We in the human kingdom have a sacred duty to help them in their spiritual development. Evolution unfolds at every stage of life—mineral, vegetable, animal as well as human. Just as the angels and archangels help us in our evolution, humans and meant to help the animal souls.
