Welcome, my chuckaboos! (If you are new around here, “chuckaboo” is what the Victorians called a dear friend.)
As most of you know, I’m reworking an unfinished novel The Delta Pearl for this serial. Since I have a good bit of material that I want to keep, my secret hope was that many of the “random things” you readers leave would already be in the story. For once luck was with me! In Chapter 1, a very minor change let me use old pal from David J. Rogers. Using dubbed from Jill happened in a similar way.
Also a particular item has a rather significant part in the story. I was sure someone would eventually use it as a thing, but would it happen in time? Thankfully, Maggie did leave it as a thing — cameo

It’s Hidebound Hump Day!

Welcome, my chuckaboos! I promise you are at the right place. After many years of the same blog-look, I’ve changed things.
It is Hidebound Hump Day. For those of you who are new around here, “chuckaboo” is Victorian slang for dear friend.
Saturday I stopped wallowing in my indecision and did a poll to ask you which of two stories you wanted to read (and participate) as my next weekly serial. One was The Skull of the Alchemist. That is the next adventure for my fictionalized Cornelis Drebbel character. The other is not a series (at least not yet), called The Delta Pearl. Both are steampunk fantasies, and look like the Victorian Era.
Drebbel’s steampunk submarine and the Delta Pearl riverboat were in a race! Are you ready to know which won? Drum roll….. The winner…

What’s Next? Again…
Saturday, July 20, 2019
Hello again, everyone. Two posts in one day is unlike me. However, it’s a reflection of how torn I’ve been, and still am, about which serial to do next.
Using reader-provided random things in serials has been a great way for me to write and finish stories. However, The Guitar Mancer is a notable exception to this. I was almost finished with the novel, and it did not convert well to a serial. The pace for regular novels, at least for mine, is different than the flow of a weekly serial.
However, I have some unfinished novels that are not close to finished. For my next serial I was choosing between two steampunk (Victorian Era-ish) stories.
A few of you may have figured out (from my previous post) that I had decided to serialize the next adventure for Cornelis Drebbel, The Skull…

Brother Love — A Novella!
Thank you, Teagan!

Jinx on rotary phone next to “Brother Love – a Crossroad” on my Kindle.
I was so impulsive in deciding to quickly “bookize” the serial that I didn’t plan ahead for a launch or promotions. So I begin by repeating my thanks to Sally G. Cronin for announcing Brother Love – a Crossroad at her blog earlier this week.
My weekend post included a give away of an e-book of the novella. I numbered your comments and used a random number generator to select the winner.
… And the winner is….. Dyanna Wyndesong!
Dyanna publishes Ravenhawks Magazine. Be sure to click over and say hello.
Meanwhile, I’ve just done a podcast. The amazing Annette Rochelle Aben hosted me for a fun chat. We discussed “Brother Love” and several other things. I even brought her into my writing process by playing my three things writing exercise…
