Geology: The diamond is the strongest stone rating a 10 on Moh’s Scale of Hardness. It is nearly 150 times harder than the 2nd hardest stone the corundum and the stone of which all other stones are measured against for hardness. Made of carbon, diamonds were formed deep in magma chambers of the earth. Diamonds today are mined in Siberia, South Africa, India, United States, Brazil, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Zaire, Botswana, Nimibia and Australia.

Physical Uses: The modern diamond rush was started in 1867 when children in South Africa picked up a 22 carat diamond. Until recently, the diamond has not been associated with love. The Romans wore diamonds for courage and victories in battle. Ancient Persians and Arabs believed the diamond brought fortune. Powdered diamonds have been used by ancient physicians to enhance strength, beauty, energy, flawless skin, happiness, long life and to relieve jaundice, gallstones, fever and sexual dysfunction.
