Fallen Furniture: 737 Cowling Chair built to last the long haul
Plane seats may not be the most comfortable, especially on long haul journeys, but a chair made from the engine cowling of a Boeing 737 is a luxury seat that is designed for comfort and built to last the long haul, albeit on ground as opposed to in the air.
Made by Fallen Furniture, the 737 Cowling Chair is the epitome of luxury seating which spins weightlessly on a highly polished aluminium base.
The dark interior of this one-time engine cowling, has been transformed into a seating area upholstered in leather.
This cool and innovative piece of design is the masterpiece of two brothers, Ben and Harry Tucker, who set up Fallen Furniture with a view to create pieces of art and furniture from reclaimed, authentic aircraft parts.
Inspired by everything from 21st century eco design to the Art Deco movement of the early 1900s, the Tucker brothers use reclaimed parts of aircraft, from both military and civilian aircrafts, and apply it with a mix of sustainable metals, woods and textiles, creating stunning, elegant, niche yet functional pieces.
The Bath-based furniture brand recently announced a line of luxury luggage made from airline upholstery. The accessories range, known as PLANE, was successfully funded via Kickstarter, and is now into production.
Fallen Furniture’s PLANE range of luxury luggage will be available later this year.
