Now I am really intrigued! Another clockwork and a mysterious shadow. Wonderful chapter!

Welcome back, my chuckaboos!  The moment of the winter solstice draws near.  Yes winter is coming!  It’s down to the wire for getting “Journey 1” of Dead of Winter ready for publication.  If anyone is interested in helping, I’d greatly appreciate any reblog of the launch post, or any other way you want to help me share.  Sorry, no exact date yet for when it will be released.

That said, this is a very short episode of The Delta Pearl.  If you missed the riverboat last weekend, here’s the link to the previous chapter.

Random Reader Things

Onomatopoeic is this chapter’s random reader thing.  It’s from Pat at e-Quips.

Welcome back to the steampunk riverboat, my chuckaboos!  I hope all of you are staying safe and well. I invite you into my sanctuary, a place free of politics, religion, self-righteousness, and all the things that bring judgement with them.

Many of you know that I deal with the effects of PTSD (anxiety, agoraphobia, and whatever else pops in) day-to-day, minute-to-minute.  Yesterday I read something that “triggered” me in a huge way.  The ending was a huge sucker-punch, at least for me.  That’s on me, not the writer of the piece.  I take accountability for my personal shortcomings. Regardless, I was so undermined by it that I’m prompted to make a promise to you.  My stories are like this sanctuary — a safe place for the imagination. My idea of “happily ever after” is not normal, but I will never kill…

Thanks for coming back to the steampunk riverboat, my chuckaboos!  I took a little break, but I’m here today with an episode that is… eventful to say the least.

Random Reader Things

Dan Antion at No Facilities provided the “random reader thing” used in this chapter — stopwatch.  This is a fast-paced segment, so that’s doubly suitable.

Previously on The Delta Pearl

Today’s episode builds on many past chapters. An important one was Chapter 6 — Listen.

Last Time

“Blue John was ranting like a lunatic.  I didn’t understand half of what he said.  The only part I heard clearly was ‘It’s coming.’  And as nonsensical as it sounds, I could have sworn he said ‘the other pearl.’  For a moment I thought he meant the Delta Pearl, but that’s insane,” Victor commented.  “Then…

Welcome back to the steampunk riverboat, my chuckaboos!  This is a short episode, but it helps explain what is going on in the story.  If you’re paying attention, you’ll find a clue.

Random Reader Things

Diana Wallace Peach has left several great “things” during course of this voyage.  This time I used martini.  By the way, I’m running low on random reader things, if you care to leave one in a comment.  Thanks again to Dan Antion‘s for letting me use his photos.

Last Time

Last time we left just as Blue John somehow launched himself toward the tear in the sky.   The Delta Pearl answers to no one, and she acted as if she might leave at any minute.

All aboard!
