Anxiety is a feeling of worry and nervousness. From time to time everyone experiences this.
This reaction can serve us well under certain circumstances. We get an adrenaline rush right before a job interview or when we are running late for an appointment. This can motivate us and prepare us for challenges ahead. We spend more time rehearsing and getting dressed before the job interview. Next time we will leave 15 minutes early before an appointment. Anxiety is healthy when used the right way.
When we are constantly anxious and in the “fight or flight” mode it can be dangerous. It can take a toll on your body and mind. You sleep less, eat less, and tend to experience headaches. Your heart races and eventually experience panic attacks. This can than lead to depression. When anxiety starts taking over your life that is when you need to seek help.
